Bonnita Spikes is a Board Member of Murder Victims Families for Human Rights. (link to www.mvfhr.org.) Bonnita’s husband Michael was shot and killed in New York in 1994. Bonita has four children. A native of Illinois she now lives in Maryland. She has been involved in social justice issues since her husband’s death.

Bonnita works on the death penalty issue full time now. She worked for Equal Justice USA, a project of the Hyattsville-based Quixote Center that is focused on moratorium legislation and is presently with Maryland Coalition Against State Executions (MD CASE).

She has a grant from the Open Society Institute-Baltimore to cultivate opposition to capital punishment among the families of murder victims and the families of murderers.
