Jack Payden-Travers is the Director of Virginians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty. He attended the Journey of Hope in Virginia, 1996 as a volunteer. He has been active in the Virginia anti-death penalty movement since 1984.

Jack has attended murder and execution vigils, Fast and Vigil at the US Supreme Court 2003 and 2005, NCADP conferences, VADP conferences, death row visitations, trials, and general outreach against the death penalty.

Jack was formerly a college professor, middle school teacher, Youth Director of the Fellowship of Reconciliation, and mentor for Education for Ministry groups.
