Jeanette Popp’s daughter was murdered in Austin in 1988.
Two men were arrested; one confessed and testified against the other.
They were both given life sentences.
Twelve years later the real killer
confessed and it was discovered that the first confession had been coerced from Christopher Ochoa.
The police used the death penalty as their weapon.
After meeting several people
who had been wrongfully convicted, Jeanette decided she could no longer sit by and do nothing,
“I had to try and stop the killing machine in the state of Texas.”
