1996 Virginia September 21 - October 6

Pat Bane, founding board member of MVFR, suggested a Journey to Virginia as the first Journey in Indiana drew to a close. Marie Deans, founder of MVFR and Pat, both residents of Virginia worked with Henry Heller and Virginians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty (VADP) to organize the Virginia Journey.

Major events

**Sister Helen Prejean, the nun whose book inspired the film "Dead Man Walking spoke to a group of over 1500 after a short march to start the Virginia Journey of Hope.
**Rallies and marches in Richmond, Norfolk, Charlottesville, Lynchburg, Manassas and Washington, DC., culminating in a major finale at the nation’s capital.
