Kathy Harris, Anchorage AK

Alaskans Against the Death Penalty Barb Hood and Kathy Harris at the Signs of Life Photo exhibit, a series of picture messages taken by Barb and Kathy

Barb Hood and Kathy Harris were going to attend the Texas Journey of Hope in 1998. Alaskans Against the Death Penalty conducted several speaking tours bringing up people from the outside like Sister Helen Prejean, Marietta Jaeger, Ann Coleman, Barbara Lewis, Magdaleno Rose-Avila and others, so members of AADP were very aware of the Journey of Hope.

As time approached the Texas Journey, Barb could not attend because of medical reasons and Kathy came from Alaska by herself. Kathy met Bill Pelke and George White while on the Texas Journey and informed them that she had helped AADP obtain their 501 (c) 3 non-profit status and would help the Journey do the same because she found out the Journey had recently incorporated.

Kathy helped the Journey obtain non-profit status and has been the Journey treasurer ever since.

Kathy helps on the on the Journeys by speaking, organizing, driving, accounting and with photography. Kathy Harris took most of the pictures on the Journey of Hope web site.

Kathy has written her memories after many of the Journeys and you can read them below.
